  Mrs. Juanita Romans brings over 30 years of experience in healthcare planning and operations. She spent seven years as CEO of Memorial Hermann - Texas Medical Center and two years as Central Market Leader where she was responsible for the Texas Medical Center, Northeast and Southeast campuses of the Memorial Hermann Healthcare System. The Central Market accounted for 1,667 inpatient beds, 58,000 annual admissions and 8,000 employees generating $3.5 billion in gross patient revenues in FY 2009. Prior to becoming CEO and Central Market Leader, Ms. Romans was the first woman Senior Vice President for the Memorial Hermann Healthcare System and was responsible for the strategic direction, operational excellence and growth of several departments.

Notable Accomplishments:

  • Served on the Memorial Hermann Hospital System Board
  • Consistently achieved a positive bottom line with 4-6 percent margin
  • Delivered 3 percent year over year growth in an exceedingly competitive    market
  • Developed a 20 year, $250 million master facility plan to accommodate     growth for within the Texas Medical Center campus
  • Improved quality indicators to consistently exceed national benchmarks    on CMS Core Measures and UHC Mortality Index
  • Fostered and developed the University of Texas Medical School    relationship through the negotiation of a new 30-year academic    affiliation agreement, 3 year annual operating agreement, and    construction of new models of collaboration and growth
  • Achieved 3 straight years of top 20 rankings in the University    HealthSystem Consortium ranking of Academic Medical Centers and    Teaching Hospitals annual assessment of quality data
  • Repositioned the hospital to become an award-winning, nationally    renowned Level 1 Trauma Center delivering the highest quality and    service
